How Much Does It Cost?

Product Cost

$0.29 to $4.00/sq. ft.

  • Vinyl tile comes in .045", .065", .080" and 0.125" thicknesses; and 12" x 12", 16" x 16" and various size plank formats. The thicker the tile, the greater the durability and the higher the price. A quality wear layer also adds to the price. Urethane and enhanced urethane will cost more than the standard, no-wax wear layer.
  • Color and design also figure into the pricing. At the mid- to high-levels, look for vinyl tiles that are embossed-in-register (EIR), meaning that the embossing matches the grain and pattern of the design. In a tile look, grout lines are indented; in a wood look, the ridges of the wood grain are raised and indented in a realistic fashion. Some tiles have a beveled edge that helps the visual look more like natural stone or ceramic, and helps hide subfloor imperfections.

Installation Cost

$0.75 to $2.00/sq. ft.

  • Glueless (adhesive tabs or spray adhesive) and peel 'n stick self adhesive (no glue needed) tiles are excellent DIY projects and can save you money by not hiring a professional installer. 
  • Installation costs can vary greatly, based on geography (labor rates) as well as subfloor preparation needs.  Armstrong recommends that you contact an Armstrong Certified Installer to provide you with an accurate installed cost estimate.
